National Area Phone Codes - Useful Phone Numbers

Post
All post offices in Turkey bear the
yellow " PTT " or " Telekom " sign.
Larger and    central offices are open
from 08:00-24:00.

Telephone

Public telephones have two different       systems : Phonecards, Tokens

They are both sold at Turkish Telecom offices. Tokens are called “jeton” in Turkish.   Phone cards are in 3 different capacity. All over Turkey, phone numbers consist of two sections; area code (3 digits) and the number itself (7 digits). During weekdays from 18:00 to 06:00 and on weekends calls are cheaper.

Total number of the telephone lines is 7.5 million (7.5 persons per telephone) . Turkey lies seventh in Europe and fourteenth in the world with this number.

Foreign Language Broadcasts on Radio and Television

Tourism Radio:
Aims at introducing Turkey to foreigners visiting the country giving historical, geographical, social, economic and tourist information, as well as current events, and, of course music.
Air time: Daily from 7:30-12:45 and 18:30-20:00 local time.

News in English, French and German on Tourism Radio aired daily at 8:30-10:30, 12:30-18:30 and 21:30 hrs. Feature programs are also broadcast in these three languages.

TRT TV2 News in English shortly after 22:00.
TRT TV2 Monday at 19:40 CNN in English -TV INT News in English shortly after 23:00.
TRT Radio 3 on the FM band airs news in English, French and German at 9:00, 12:00, 14:00, 17:00, 19:00 and 22:00 daily.
