Pergamon and Asclepium (Full Day incl. lunch)

Visit ancient Agora, climb Mount Pagus, once called the Crown of Smyrna, visit Alexander the Great’s Castle overlooking the Bay of Izmir. We will also visit the Archaeological and Ethnographical Museum. Should you wish to visit the Bazaar you will be left at the entrance. (Except Monday)

Ephesus and House of Virgin Mary (Full Day incl. lunch)

Leave for Ephesus and first visit the House of the Virgin Mary where she spent the last years before she died. Moving on to Ephesus, we will visit the Fountains, Temples, the Agora, the Great Theatre, the Library of Celsus together with the Odeon and Gymnasiums. After lunch we will move on to the Archaeological Museum, the Mosque of Isa Bey, St. John’s Basilica and the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the World). Transfer back to Izmir.

Priene, Miletus, Didyma (Full Day incl. lunch)

Departure for Priene which is recognized as the first planned city of the ancient world and one of the most attractive sites on the West Coast. We will visit the Theatre, the Temple of Athena, the Agora and the Altar of Zeus and Cybele. We then proceed to Miletus, one of the principle Ionian cities and the home of Thales, twice visited by St.Paul. We will visit the Theatre, Byzantine Fortress, the Delphinion and the Faustina Bath. We will then continue on to Didyma and visit the Temple of Apollo.

Sardis and Manisa (Full Day incl. lunch)

Drive to Sardis, capital of ancient Lydia. View the magnificent ruins of the Acropolis. Visit the Temple of Cybele and Diana which later became a church. Stop by the Synagogue, the Gymnasium and a newly excavated area. After lunch, we visit Manisa, visit the Archaeological and Ethnographical Museum, the Mosque of Muradiye, and Weeping Rock Niobe.
